Description
The Deye 18kW Solar Kit Installed with 22 x 600W JA Solar panels and 4 x 5.12kWh Deye batteries is engineered for South African load-shedding conditions where batteries cycle daily, often multiple times, and where the combination of high ambient temperatures and frequent charge-discharge cycling tests battery chemistry to its limits.
LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry was chosen for this application for good reason: it is the safest lithium chemistry available (no thermal runaway risk), it maintains a flat discharge curve (stable voltage throughout discharge rather than the steep drop of lead-acid), and it delivers 3 000–6 000+ cycles at 80% depth of discharge versus 300–500 cycles for an equivalent lead-acid battery.
The built-in Battery Management System (BMS) monitors every cell in the pack for over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, and under-temperature conditions, disconnecting the battery before any condition can damage the cells. CAN bus and RS485 communication ports allow the battery to communicate its state of charge, state of health, cell temperatures, and cycle count directly to compatible hybrid inverters including Deye, Sunsynk, Victron, GoodWe, Fronius, SMA, and LuxPower.
Multiple units can be connected in parallel to scale the storage capacity to match your household’s consumption during loadshedding. Correct installation by a qualified electrician with a valid COC (Certificate of Compliance) is recommended and may be required for warranty validity.
