Description
The JA Solar 610W Bifacial panel (JAM72D30-610/MB) represents the cutting edge of residential and commercial solar panel technology. Built on JA Solar’s N-type monocrystalline cells with a bifacial glass-glass structure, it generates power from both the front surface (direct irradiance) and the rear surface (albedo — reflected light from the roof, ground, or mounting surface below).
N-type cells carry a fundamental advantage over the older P-type (PERC) technology: they have a lower temperature coefficient (−0.29%/°C vs −0.35%/°C for PERC), meaning they lose less power on hot South African summer days when panel surface temperatures regularly reach 60–70°C. Over a year in the Highveld or Northern Cape, this translates to measurably more kilowatt-hours from the same number of panels.
The 610W nameplate rating is measured at Standard Test Conditions (STC: 25°C, 1000 W/m² irradiance, AM1.5 spectrum). In South Africa’s high-irradiance climate, panels regularly exceed STC conditions at optimal operating temperatures, and the bifacial gain from reflected light can add a further 5–15% to effective output depending on the albedo of the surface beneath.
The 12-year product warranty and 25-year linear power output warranty (80% minimum at 25 years) reflect JA Solar’s Tier 1 status. Half-cut cell architecture improves shade tolerance and reduces resistive losses, maintaining output even when one corner of the panel is partially shaded by a roof obstruction.
