The Victron MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 is Victron Energy’s flagship inverter-charger, combining a pure sine wave inverter, a multi-stage battery charger, and an ultra-fast transfer switch in a single integrated unit. It is the core component in thousands of South African ESS (Energy Storage System) installations.
During normal grid operation, the Victron MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 passes mains power through to your distribution board while simultaneously charging your battery bank at the configured charge current. When Eskom fails, the internal relay switches in under 20 milliseconds — faster than most computers’ power supply capacitors can discharge — ensuring no sensitive device reboots or resets.
The PowerControl feature limits the total AC draw from the grid to a configured threshold, adding battery power when household consumption exceeds it. PowerAssist goes further, supplementing grid or generator power with battery energy when loads briefly spike above the grid supply capacity — critical for undersized generator installations.
The VE.Bus communication interface connects the Victron MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 to Victron’s GX monitoring devices (Cerbo GX, Venus GX) for full system visibility via the free VRM portal. When paired with Victron MPPT solar charge controllers, the system manages solar self-consumption, battery protection, and grid interaction completely autonomously.
