Description
When both the 12V starter circuit and 24V service bank share a common chassis ground, the non-isolated Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/24-15A delivers step-up DC-DC charging without the size, weight, and cost overhead of a galvanic isolation transformer.
The 15A output at 24V (360W) is sufficient for medium-sized 24V LiFePO4 banks used in specialised applications — 24V air compressors, 24V winches, or 24V inverter systems. The same Victron smart charging algorithm applies: the unit holds the target absorption voltage until the battery is full, then drops to float, giving the battery what a proper charger delivers rather than a raw alternator voltage pass-through.
Not suitable for modern Euro 5/6 vehicles with CANbus-managed smart alternators — use the isolated version in those installations.
