Description
The Victron Phoenix Inverter 48/375 230V VE.Direct IEC is a Victron Phoenix standalone inverter — not a charger-inverter, not a hybrid, but a pure DC-to-AC power conversion unit that does one thing exceptionally well: produce a clean, stable, low-distortion 230V AC sine wave from a DC battery bank.
Unlike hybrid inverters that are designed to manage solar, grid, and battery simultaneously, the Phoenix is designed for applications where simplicity and reliability are paramount: marine installations, caravan power systems, UPS backup for server racks, and as the AC output stage in custom-designed off-grid systems.
The VE.Direct communication port allows the Phoenix to be monitored and controlled by Victron’s GX devices (Cerbo GX, Color Control GX) or directly via a smartphone using a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle. This integration makes it a first-class citizen in Victron’s ESS (Energy Storage System) ecosystem.
Victron’s pure sine wave output has a total harmonic distortion (THD) of under 3% at full load — cleaner than the mains grid in many South African municipalities. This makes it safe for sensitive electronics, medical equipment, variable-speed motor drives, and audio-visual equipment that would be damaged by the modified sine wave output common in cheaper inverters.
