Description
The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30A Non-Isolated delivers 30A of smart DC-DC charging from a 12V alternator to a 12V service battery in vehicles where both batteries share a common ground — typically older vehicles with traditional alternators and no CANbus management.
Without the isolation transformer, the unit is more compact and slightly more efficient than its isolated sibling. However, it is not suitable for vehicles with smart alternators (common on Euro 5 and 6 diesel vehicles) or boats with mixed DC grounds, where galvanic isolation is essential to prevent ground loops.
For standard 4x4s, bakkies, and older Land Cruisers with simple alternators and shared chassis grounds, this non-isolated unit is the cost-effective solution that still delivers the full Victron smart charging algorithm — bulk, absorption, and float — ensuring your AGM or LiFePO4 service battery reaches full charge and maintains it correctly.
